Florida Cosmetology License Requirements
Must be at least 16 years of age and must have received high school diploma or equivalent.
Florida Beauty School Hours
Cosmetologist License: 1200 Hours
Barber License: 1200 Hours
Nail Technician License: 240 Hours
Esthetician License: 260 Hours
Permanent Makeup Artist License: 3-hour Communicable Disease Course
Hair Braider License: 2-day 16-hour Hair Braiding Course
Massage Therapist License: 500 Hours
Florida Cosmetology License Renewal
Florida Cosmetology licenses are divided into 2 groups, which is setup when you get your license. Licenses in the first group must renew by October 31 in an even numbered year and the second group must renew by October 31 in odd numbered years. License renewal fees vary from $30 to $55 depending on your beauty specialty. Florida requires 16 hours of cosmetology continuing education to renew licenses.
Florida Cosmetology License Reciprocity (Change or Transfer)
The Florida board of cosmetology doesn't have a reciprocity program. Instead they offer a licensure through endorsement. To transfer your license to Florida your home state must have similar education and testing requirements.
